{"id":11465,"date":"2024-05-01T08:58:08","date_gmt":"2024-05-01T08:58:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/imsfund.com\/?p=11465"},"modified":"2024-05-01T08:58:08","modified_gmt":"2024-05-01T08:58:08","slug":"mcdonalds-cfo-bigger-burgers-more-meat-testing-this-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/imsfund.com\/index.php\/2024\/05\/01\/mcdonalds-cfo-bigger-burgers-more-meat-testing-this-year\/","title":{"rendered":"McDonald&#8217;s CFO: Bigger Burgers, More Meat Testing This Year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>After months of testing and teasing dozens of modifications to its original burger, McDonald&#8217;s is now revealing one massive change that customers will notice \u2014 the size.<\/p>\n<p>In a Tuesday call with analysts, McDonald&#8217;s Chief Financial Officer Ian Borden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2024-04-30\/mcdonald-s-mcd-to-test-bigger-burger-to-spark-traffic-growth\">announced<\/a> that the chain will be testing a larger burger this year in select markets.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As we look to further build on our leadership in beef, our team of chefs from around the world have created a larger satiating burger,&#8221; Borden <a href=\"https:\/\/seekingalpha.com\/article\/4687515-mcdonalds-corporation-mcd-q1-2024-earnings-call-transcript\">said during the call<\/a>. &#8220;We&#8217;ll be testing this burger in a few markets later this year ensuring that it has universal appeal before scaling it across the globe.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><b>Related: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/business-news\/mcdonalds-is-completely-changing-its-burgers-in-2024\/466258\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">McDonald&#8217;s Is Completely Changing Its Burgers in 2024<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>This isn&#8217;t surprising news for McDonald&#8217;s, as Borden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.restaurantbusinessonline.com\/food\/mcdonalds-wants-serve-bigger-burger\">hinted at<\/a> the UBS Global Consumer and Retail Conference last month that he believed there was a &#8220;significant&#8221; opportunity to create a larger-sized offering and noted the chain has attempted to do so in the past.<\/p>\n<p>In the mid-90s, McDonald&#8217;s attempted to create &#8220;premium&#8221; burgers with different toppings and offerings (such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eater.com\/22584033\/mcdonalds-arch-deluxe-burger-discontinued-marketing-flop-andrew-selvaggio\">Arch Deluxe<\/a>, for example), instead of simply making a larger patty.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We tried to get after this opportunity for a number of years because we thought the opportunity was about premium burger,&#8221; Borden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.restaurantbusinessonline.com\/food\/mcdonalds-wants-serve-bigger-burger\">said last month<\/a>. &#8220;We weren&#8217;t successful.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s been a long time coming for the chain, which laid out a massive growth plan in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/business\/hospitality\/mcdonalds-burger-new-menu-2400d22b\">December that<\/a> included <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/business-news\/mcdonalds-is-completely-changing-its-burgers-in-2024\/466258\">creating a new version <\/a>of its burgers with an estimated 50 modifications.
