Thirty-three percent of people say they need their side hustle to keep up with regular living expenses, while 27% say it helps fund discretionary spending, according to a Bankrate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bankrate.com\/personal-finance\/side-hustle-survey\/\">survey<\/a>. A side hustle, by its very definition, is a gig that takes place in addition to (and probably outside of) a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/starting-a-business\/are-you-ready-to-ditch-your-9-5-for-your-side-hustle\/464131\">9-5<\/a> or other primary occupation.<\/p>\n<p>So, if you are among the <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/side-gigs-2023-50-americans-110022968.html\">50% of U.S. adults with a side hustle<\/a>, do you have to let your employer know?<\/p>\n<p>Dan Doromal, co-owner and vice president of operations for <a href=\"https:\/\/everesticeandwater.com\/\">Everest Ice and Water Systems<\/a>, has a unique perspective on the question.
