{"id":13745,"date":"2024-10-30T03:47:10","date_gmt":"2024-10-30T03:47:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/imsfund.com\/?p=13745"},"modified":"2024-10-30T03:47:10","modified_gmt":"2024-10-30T03:47:10","slug":"these-are-the-best-states-to-start-a-small-business-study","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/imsfund.com\/index.php\/2024\/10\/30\/these-are-the-best-states-to-start-a-small-business-study\/","title":{"rendered":"These Are the Best States to Start a Small Business: Study"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>For every one business that closed in Nevada last year, about 1.3 businesses opened.<\/p>\n<p>That ratio, of businesses opening to closing, makes Nevada <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/business-news\/the-10-best-and-worst-states-to-start-a-small-business\/464440\" rel=\"follow noopener\" target=\"_self\">the best state to open a small business<\/a>, according to a new study from AI software company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mrpeasy.com\/\" rel=\"follow noopener\" target=\"_self\">MRPeasy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is interesting to analyze the U.S. states with the highest and lowest rates of small business openings and closures since the ratio reveals economic trends and growth,&#8221; MRPeasy director of business development Mike Lurye stated.<\/p>\n<p>The study drew from <a href=\"https:\/\/advocacy.sba.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/State-Profiles-2023.pdf\" rel=\"follow noopener\" target=\"_self\">U.S. Small Business Administration Office of Advocacy<\/a> data for 2023 to find the number of business openings and closings in each state during the year, calculate the ratio between them, and rank each state in a list. It defined a small business as a company with less than 500 employees.<\/p>\n<p><b>Related: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/business-news\/1-in-5-small-businesses-could-run-out-of-cash-by-christmas\/482055\" rel=\"follow noopener\" target=\"_self\">1 in 5 Small and Medium-Sized Businesses Could Be Out of Cash By Christmas, According to a New Report<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Louisiana, meanwhile, was at the bottom of the list as the worst state to start a small business. It was the only state with a negative ratio of business openings to closures, meaning that more businesses shut down than started in Louisiana last year.<\/p>\n<p>Small businesses are likely to fail: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data <a href=\"https:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/financial-edge\/1010\/top-6-reasons-new-businesses-fail.aspx\" rel=\"follow noopener\" target=\"_self\">shows<\/a> that 65% fail within the first decade. Over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uschamber.com\/small-business\/small-business-data-center\" rel=\"follow noopener\" target=\"_self\">60 million<\/a> Americans are employed by small businesses, per U.S. Chamber of Commerce data, and there are more than <a href=\"https:\/\/advocacy.sba.gov\/2023\/03\/07\/frequently-asked-questions-about-small-business-2023\/\" rel=\"follow noopener\" target=\"_self\">33 million small businesses<\/a> in the U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/business-news\/1-in-5-small-businesses-could-run-out-of-cash-by-christmas\/482055\" rel=\"follow noopener\" target=\"_self\">One in five small businesses<\/a> indicate that they only have one to five months of cash reserves on hand for emergencies, according to a recent study.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the best and worst states to open a small business, based on the balance between business openings and closings last year.<\/p>\n<p><b>Related:<\/b> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/business-news\/median-household-incomes-are-up-the-most-in-these-us-states\/480240\" rel=\"follow noopener\" target=\"_self\">Household Incomes Are Up For the First Time in 4 Years.
