But the Supreme Court still hasn&#8217;t ruled on whether to uphold the ban, which is set to go into effect on January 19. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/news\/story\/tiktok-planning-to-go-dark-sunday-6508737\/\" rel=\"follow noopener\" target=\"_self\">Reports note<\/a> that TikTok is preparing to &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theinformation.com\/articles\/tiktok-prepares-for-immediate-shut-off-in-the-u-s-on-sunday\" rel=\"follow noopener\" target=\"_self\">go dark<\/a>&#8221; on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Amy Coney Barrett noted during the proceedings, &#8220;The law doesn&#8217;t say TikTok has to shut down. It says ByteDance has to divest.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>ByteDance has previously said that it would not sell. Despite reports this week that suggested the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/business-news\/will-elon-musk-acquire-tiktok-tiktok-says-pure-fiction\/485526\" rel=\"follow noopener\" target=\"_self\">company was talking to Elon Musk<\/a> about a possible sale, TikTok said the news is &#8220;pure fiction.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Now, on Thursday, President-elect Donald Trump&#8217;s incoming National Security Advisor, Florida Congressman Mike Waltz, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/video\/6367180612112\" rel=\"follow noopener\" target=\"_self\">said on Fox News<\/a>&#8216; &#8220;Special Report&#8221; that Trump will &#8220;preserve&#8221; the app, either through an executive order or other measures, like the 90-day Presidential extension option written into the law.
