Despite millennials and Gen Xers being poised to inherit around $84 trillion by 2045 during the &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/business-news\/silver-tsunami-predicted-to-overhaul-housing-market-in-2024\/465209\" rel=\"follow\" target=\"_self\">silver tsunami<\/a>,&#8221; it looks like boomers want to stand pat.<\/p>\n<p>According to a new <a href=\"https:\/\/pressroom.aboutschwab.com\/press-releases\/press-release\/2024\/Generational-Wealth-Divide-Younger-High-Net-Worth-Americans-May-Reshape-How-Wealth-Is-Transferred-to-Future-Generations-According-to-New-Schwab-Survey\/default.aspx\" rel=\"follow\" target=\"_self\">report from Charles Schwab<\/a>, almost half of boomers surveyed (45%) said they wanted &#8220;to enjoy my money for myself while I&#8217;m still alive&#8221; \u2014 while only 11% of Gen Xers and 15% of millennials said the same.<\/p>\n<p>Schwab&#8217;s survey of 1,000 high net worth (HNW) Americans, which is defined as people with more than $1 million in investable assets, found a sizeable generational shift: Millionaire millennials and Gen X were more than twice as likely to opt for sharing their wealth during their lifetime than Boomers.<\/p>\n<p><b>Related:<\/b> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/starting-a-business\/why-baby-boomer-businesses-are-up-for-grabs-in-2025\/484591\" rel=\"follow\" target=\"_self\">Baby Boomer Businesses Are Up for Grabs \u2014 Here&#8217;s How Entrepreneurs Can Benefit In 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Schwab serves over a million multi-millionaires, and as they move from building wealth to preserving and passing it, we see an increasing need for specialized services and support around estate planning, wealth transfer, and legacy planning,&#8221; said <a href=\"https:\/\/cts.businesswire.com\/ct\/CT?id=smartlink&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.aboutschwab.com%2Fandrew-danna&amp;esheet=54163541&amp;newsitemid=20241209249389&amp;lan=en-US&amp;anchor=Andrew+D%26%238217%3BAnna&amp;index=1&amp;md5=347f5202ee64078d9e84aeef553752d2\" rel=\"follow\" target=\"_self\">Andrew D&#8217;Anna<\/a>, managing director of retail client experience at Charles Schwab. &#8220;According to our survey, younger Americans could be poised to reshape legacy planning and the future of how wealth is passed to the next generation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Still, just because younger Americans plan to give more away sooner, it doesn&#8217;t mean they&#8217;re making it easy. While younger HNW individuals are more keen to give their money away\u2014it comes with a catch.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, these plans have &#8220;strings attached.&#8221; Of millennials and Gen Xers who already have wealth transfer plans, a whopping 97% and 94%, respectively, have put &#8220;stipulations&#8221; in the contracts.
