The email notes that the $50,000 must be paid back in full if an employee accepts the buyout but then returns to the SEC within five years.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2025-02-26\/sec-calls-workers-back-to-office-as-agency-complies-with-mandate\" rel=\"follow\" target=\"_self\">SEC mandated<\/a> that all staff return to the office five days a week starting April 14.<\/p>\n<p>The Education Department also offered some of its staff a buyout of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/02\/28\/us\/politics\/education-department-buyout-email.html\" rel=\"follow\" target=\"_self\">$25,000 to resign or retire<\/a> last week.
