She credited the implementation of AI tools for the slowed hiring.<\/p>\n<p>According to Washington, AI has enabled Salesforce to reassign 500 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/leadership\/why-customer-service-is-the-easiest-path-to-business-success\/452453\" rel=\"follow\" target=\"_self\">customer service<\/a> workers to other roles at the company this year, resulting in a cost savings of $50 million. Chief revenue officer Miguel Milano said on the analyst call that the company now has around 13,000 salespeople and wants to expand the number by 22% this year. Salesforce currently has <a href=\"https:\/\/stockanalysis.com\/stocks\/crm\/employees\/\" rel=\"follow\" target=\"_self\">76,453 <\/a>total employees globally.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"lazyload\" loading=\"lazy\" role=\"presentation\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.entrepreneur.com\/images\/misc\/1748547903_Marc-Benioff-GettyImages-1934266964.jpg?width=1000\" style=\"height:662px; width:1000px\" width=\"1000\" height=\"662\"\/><i><sup>Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella stated last month that engineers at the company are using AI to write <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/business-news\/ai-is-taking-over-coding-at-microsoft-google-and-meta\/490896\" rel=\"follow\" target=\"_self\">about 30% of new code<\/a>. Google CEO Sundar Pichai <a href=\"https:\/\/abc.xyz\/2025-q1-earnings-call\/\" rel=\"follow\" target=\"_self\">said<\/a> in the same month that the company was using AI to write more than 30% of new code, up from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/business-news\/google-recruits-ai-to-write-25-of-its-code-earnings-call\/482167\" rel=\"follow\" target=\"_self\">25% in October<\/a>. Meanwhile, Klarna, a company that has said its AI chatbot does the work of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/business-news\/klarna-says-its-ai-assistant-does-the-work-of-700-people\/470405\" rel=\"follow\" target=\"_self\">700 customer service agents<\/a>, reported earnings last week <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/business-news\/klarna-uses-an-ai-clone-of-its-ceo-to-summarize-earnings\/492085\" rel=\"follow\" target=\"_self\">using an AI avatar<\/a> of its CEO.<\/p>\n<p>Goldman Sachs predicts that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/jackkelly\/2023\/03\/31\/goldman-sachs-predicts-300-million-jobs-will-be-lost-or-degraded-by-artificial-intelligence\/\" rel=\"follow\" target=\"_self\">300 million jobs<\/a> across the globe could be lost or downgraded due to AI by 2030.<\/p>\n<p>Salesforce isn&#8217;t the only company to ramp up hiring in some areas and cut back in others, thanks to AI. IBM CEO Arvind Krishna told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/ibm-ceo-says-ai-has-replaced-hundreds-of-workers-but-created-new-programming-sales-jobs-54ea6b58\" rel=\"follow\" target=\"_self\"><i>The Wall Street Journal<\/i><\/a><i> <\/i>earlier this month that IBM had used AI to replace several hundred human resource employees. Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/business-news\/salesforce-ceo-ai-agents-could-replace-hiring-gig-workers\/480177\" rel=\"follow\" target=\"_self\">said in September<\/a> that the company&#8217;s AI agents would allow its clients to forgo hiring new employees or gig workers in busier periods of time.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, Salesforce <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/05\/27\/salesforce-informatica-deal.html\" rel=\"follow\" target=\"_self\">announced<\/a> that it was acquiring cloud data management company Informatica for $8 billion to help advance its AI capabilities. The deal is one of Salesforce&#8217;s largest since it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2020\/12\/01\/salesforce-buys-slack-for-27point7-billion-in-cloud-companys-largest-deal.html\" rel=\"follow\" target=\"_self\">bought Slack<\/a> in 2021 for $27.7 billion and data firm <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2019\/06\/10\/salesforce-to-buy-tableau-software-in-an-all-stock-deal.html\" rel=\"follow\" target=\"_self\">Tableau in 2019<\/a> for $15.7 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Salesforce reported first-quarter earnings on Wednesday that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/05\/28\/salesforce-crm-q1-earnings-report-2026.html\" rel=\"follow\" target=\"_self\">beat estimates<\/a>, with revenue up 8% to $9.83 billion.
