Earlier this week, the company also announced a deal to buy data management company Informatica <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/news\/press-releases\/2025\/05\/27\/salesforce-signs-definitive-agreement-to-acquire-informatica\/\" rel=\"follow\" target=\"_self\">for $8 billion<\/a>, its biggest acquisition since it purchased <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/12\/05\/slack-ceo-stewart-butterfield-leaving-salesforce-two-years-after-deal.html\" rel=\"follow\" target=\"_self\">Slack<\/a> for $27.1 billion in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Sometimes you have a quarter when everything is going right for you,&#8221; said Salesforce CEO and Board Chair Marc Benioff, 60, in an earnings call on Wednesday, per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/business\/earnings\/salesforce-raises-full-year-sales-outlook-after-quarterly-beat-268f86db\" rel=\"follow\" target=\"_self\"><i>The Wall Street Journal<\/i><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to Salesforce&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/s205.q4cdn.com\/626266368\/files\/doc_financials\/2025\/ar\/Salesforce-FY25-Proxy-Statement.pdf\" rel=\"follow\" target=\"_self\">2025 proxy statement<\/a>, released in April, Benioff made over $55 million in the 2025 fiscal year, which ran from Feb. 1, 2024, to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/news\/press-releases\/2025\/02\/26\/fy25-q4-earnings\/\" rel=\"follow\" target=\"_self\">Jan. 31, 2025<\/a>. His base salary was $1.55 million, and his bonus was $2,500, both unchanged from 2024. His stock awards increased by about $8 million, and his option awards by over $3 million from 2024. His $55 million compensation included over $4 million in personal security costs and over half a million dollars in aircraft usage.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Salesforce&#8217;s median employee took home a total compensation of $178,949 in fiscal year 2025. That year, Benioff made $39.6 million, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/business-news\/salesforce-investors-reject-ceo-marc-benioffs-396m-pay\/476524\" rel=\"follow\" target=\"_self\">240 times more<\/a> than the median.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"lazyload\" loading=\"lazy\" role=\"presentation\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.entrepreneur.com\/images\/misc\/1748636197_Marc-Benioff-GettyImages-2194679952.jpg?width=1000\" style=\"height:667px; width:1000px\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\"\/><sup><i>Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff. Photographer: Chris Ratcliffe\/Bloomberg via Getty Images<\/i><\/sup><\/p>\n<p>Salesforce&#8217;s median salary is lower than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/business-news\/how-much-do-google-employees-make-median-salaries-revealed\/490761\" rel=\"follow\" target=\"_self\">Google<\/a>, where a mid-level employee made $331,894 in 2024, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/business-news\/how-much-do-nvidia-employees-make-median-salary-revealed\/491033\" rel=\"follow\" target=\"_self\">Nvidia<\/a>, where a typical employee made $301,233.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Salesforce could be slowing down hiring in certain departments and accelerating hiring in others as it attempts to internally maximize its use of AI tools. The company&#8217;s chief financial and operations officer, Robin Washington, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2025-05-28\/salesforce-says-ai-has-reduced-hiring-of-engineers-and-customer-service-workers?srnd=phx-technology\" rel=\"follow\" target=\"_self\">said on a call with analysts<\/a> on Wednesday that Salesforce has downsized &#8220;some&#8221; of its hiring needs thanks to AI. The study, which was based on proxy statements filed with federal regulators by companies in the S&amp;P 500, examined the pay of 344 executives. It found that the median pay package of CEOs in 2024 was $17.1 million, up from <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/business\/compensation-and-benefits-general-news-9e741c825386b676a69527c9a03b4447\" rel=\"follow\" target=\"_self\">$16.3 million in 2023<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The highest-earning CEO on the list was Patrick W. Smith, the CEO of taser-making company Axon, who took home $164.5 million. Other top-earning executives included General Electric&#8217;s H. Lawrence Culp, Jr. ($87.4 million), Apple&#8217;s Tim Cook ($74.6 million), and Netflix&#8217;s Theodore A. Sarandos ($61.9 million).
