The bank kept interest rates between 4.25% and 4.5%.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Higher tariffs have begun to show through more clearly to prices of some goods, but their overall effects on economic activity and inflation remain to be seen,&#8221; said <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/07\/30\/fed-meeting-live-updates.html\">Chairman Jerome Powell<\/a> at the meeting.<\/p>\n<p><b>Related:<\/b> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/business-news\/us-economy-grew-more-than-expected-data\/495249\" rel=\"\" target=\"_self\">U.S. Economy Grew More Than Expected, According to Federal Data: &#8216;Broadly Indicative of a Healthy Economy&#8217;<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/live\/2025\/07\/30\/business\/federal-reserve-interest-rates\">Two members<\/a> of the Board of Governors appointed by President Donald Trump dissented and suggested lowering interest rates by one-quarter of a percentage point. Still, the decision was expected by most experts. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/cpi\/\">Inflation is at 2.7%<\/a>, as of press time, higher than the Fed&#8217;s preferred 2% number.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our obligation is to keep longer-term\u2026 inflation expectations well anchored and to prevent a one-time increase in the price level from becoming an ongoing inflation problem,&#8221; Powell said.<\/p>\n<p>Elyse Ausenbaugh, head of investment strategy at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chase.com\/personal\/investments\" target=\"_blank\">J.P.
