Sweetgreen <a href=\"https:\/\/stockanalysis.com\/stocks\/sg\/employees\/\">employed<\/a> over 6,400 workers as of the end of last year.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the chain will also discontinue its $4.95 Ripple Fries, marketed as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2025-08-07\/sweetgreen-nixes-fries-that-sought-to-redefine-fast-food\">healthier alternative<\/a> to French fries, a mere five months after introducing the option.<\/p>\n<p><b>Related: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/business-news\/att-sweetgreen-implement-strict-return-to-office-mandates\/484569\" rel=\"\" target=\"_self\">AT&amp;T and Sweetgreen Are Following Amazon&#8217;s Lead With Stricter Return-to-Office Mandates \u2014 Though Amazon&#8217;s Plan Has Hit a Snag<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sweetgreen CEO Jonathan Neman said on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.investing.com\/news\/transcripts\/earnings-call-transcript-sweetgreen-q2-2025-sees-stock-dip-after-earnings-miss-93CH-4179974\">Thursday earnings call<\/a> with analysts that while consumers &#8220;loved&#8221; the air-fried ripple fries and had a &#8220;great reaction&#8221; to the product, it was a &#8220;distraction&#8221; to employees and added extra cooking complexity to their day.<\/p>\n<p>Sweetgreen has already tested removing the fries from its menu in certain stores, and seen &#8220;huge improvements in customer satisfaction&#8221; as employees focus on the salad chain&#8217;s core products, Neman said on the call. Sweetgreen will discontinue the item next week, he added.<\/p>\n<p>Sweetgreen made these changes to its staff and menu after posting disappointing quarterly earnings. On Thursday, Sweetgreen announced its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tipranks.com\/news\/company-announcements\/sweetgreen-inc-reports-q2-2025-financial-results\">second-quarter results<\/a>, noting that same-store sales fell by 7.6%. The chain <a href=\"https:\/\/investor.sweetgreen.com\/financials\/quarterly-results\/default.aspx\">reported<\/a> a net loss of $23.2 million, up from $14.5 million in the same period last year. Total revenue increased by just 0.5% year-over-year to $185.6 million.<\/p>\n<h2>What is Sweetgreen&#8217;s turnaround plan?<\/h2>\n<p>Though Sweetgreen may have reported poor financial results this week, the salad chain has a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/business-news\/starbucks-plans-sales-turnaround-with-green-apron-service\/495179\" rel=\"\" target=\"_self\">turnaround plan<\/a> in place that includes offering larger sizes of proteins, improving the taste of its chicken and salmon, and offering discounts on salads ($13 instead of $15) for members.<\/p>\n<p>Mitch Reback, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/business-news\/att-sweetgreen-implement-strict-return-to-office-mandates\/484569\" rel=\"\" target=\"_self\">Sweetgreen&#8217;s<\/a> chief financial officer, said on the earnings call that the company was also bringing back seasonal options and chef collaborations, as well as presenting new offerings at &#8220;more moderate price points.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;While we&#8217;re not yet where we want to be, we&#8217;re confident that these actions position Sweetgreen to emerge stronger, more focused, and better aligned with what our guests and investors expect from us,&#8221; Reback said on the call.<\/p>\n<p><b>Related: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/growing-a-business\/a-sweetgreen-co-founder-talks-about-where-the-brand-is-going\/492147\" rel=\"\" target=\"_self\">These College Friends Wanted to Sell Better Food.
