As a result, Twitter has received complaints from real estate firms like Shorenstein, which owns Twitter&#8217;s San Francisco buildings.<\/p>\n<p>Representatives for Shorenstein and Musk did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Without providing any figures or evidence, he claimed in a tweet that the revenue drop was the result of activist groups putting pressure on advertisers.<\/p>\n<p>Though many companies did pause advertising on Twitter, some major advertising giants like <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-3\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/AAPL\/\">Apple<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> and <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-4\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/AMZN\/\">Amazon<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> have resumed spending on the platform.<\/p>\n<p>Musk has also revamped Twitter&#8217;s subscription service, Twitter Blue, with the hope of generating fresh revenue for the company. The service <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/12\/12\/twitter-blue-relaunches-with-steeper-price-for-apple-users-.html?&amp;amp;qsearchterm=apple%20twitter\">launched Monday<\/a> after Musk pulled and delayed the launch in November.<\/p>\n<p>Twitter Blue costs $8 a month for web users and $11 a month for iOS users who purchase it through\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/AAPL\/\">Apple<\/a>&#8216;s App Store. The $3 iOS price difference reflects Musk&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/11\/29\/elon-musk-may-be-luring-apple-into-a-fight-with-republicans.html\">recent gripes about Apple&#8217;s 30% cut<\/a>\u00a0of all digital sales made through apps.<\/p>\n<p>Subscribers with a verified phone number will receive a blue checkmark once their account is reviewed and approved, Twitter said in a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Twitter\/status\/1601692766257709056\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tweet Saturday<\/a>. Blue users will also be able to edit tweets and get early access to new features. The company says Blue subscribers will &#8220;soon&#8221; see fewer ads, have the option to post longer videos and will appear at the top of replies and mentions.<\/p>\n<p>Musk has been a vocal critic of Twitter&#8217;s previous system, which granted verification to notable users like politicians, executives, members of the press and organizations to signal their legitimacy.
