Donald Trump Says Mark Zuckerberg ‘Won’t Support’ Democrats


Is this the beginning of a beautiful friendship between former President Donald Trump and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg?

Zuckerberg is allegedly trying to make amends with the former President after Meta’s AI assistant incorrectly labeled and censored a photo of Trump after the attempt on his life in July.

Trump said in an interview on Friday that Zuckerberg called him to apologize for the mistake.

“[Zuckerberg] said that they made a mistake and that they’re correcting the mistake,” Trump said while calling out Google for not apologizing after the search engine reportedly censored news about the incident. “I believe Mark Zuckerberg, he called me a lot.”

Trump says Zuckerberg called him “amazing” and “brave” and also alleged Zuckerberg said he wasn’t going to support Democrats in the November election.

“He actually announced he’s not going to support a Democrat because he can’t; because he respected me for what I did that day,” Trump told Fox’s Maria Bartiromo.

Zuckerberg posted well wishes for Trump on Threads after the rally shooting.

“This is such a sad day for our country,” he wrote, at the time. “Political violence undermines democracy and must always be condemned.”

Meanwhile, Zuckerberg’s rival and hopeful cage match opponent Elon Musk publicly endorsed Trump for President on social media in July.

Trump and Meta have had a contentious relationship. Trump’s accounts were shut down after the Jan. 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol (and reinstated in early 2023), and just last month, Trump threatened to send Zuckerberg to prison on Truth Social.

Zuckerberg has not publicly endorsed a Presidential candidate ahead of the 2024 election.

5 Telltale Signs Your Tech ‘Solutions’ Are Working Against You

Tech is a vital component of just about any modern business plan, but it’s too often implemented before it’s properly assessed. I’ve been in countless forums that include someone declaring, “If you want success, you need to be using .” But in reality, tech is an extension of your business, not someone else’s paint-by-numbers guide for you to replicate what’s already been done.

To be sure, following someone else’s guidance can help reduce some of the decision-making phases in getting started, but may not be the best strategy once an enterprise or organization is established. So, I’m not here to tell you what tech to use because I believe the process of choosing the right is at once complex and unique to each user. You can and should feel good about the systems you’ve invested in.

Here are some signs that yours are no longer supporting you the way they should.

1. Spending too much time on setup and fixes

It is all too easy to find yourself putting in late nights, skipping out on events and spending less time with people you care about, and instead having frustrating sessions at the computer during which it feels like you’re banging your head against the wall. You may, in the end, only get as far as “good enough,” then call it a wrap.

The adage that “fighting with your tech is part of the business” simply isn’t true, or shouldn’t be anyway. The odd late-night session when you’re inspired can be productive, but these should conclude with a winning feeling, not a compromise.

2. Depending on outside people to make adjustments

It’s common to get tech set-up by a friend or family member who is “really good at this.” The hitch is that’s is very easy for this to result in a situation in which someone else is running your business. Not having the confidence to dive into your own digital tools and/or having repeated stressful conversations with the help desk because your go-to person is unavailable simply won’t work.

3. Clients become aware of the problem

When you’re an entrepreneur, clients are typically pretty understanding. They know you’re wearing multiple hats and that tech can be tricky to navigate. But at the core of things, they are looking for your services, and unsupportive tools will get in the way of that — impacting your relationships. Your problems must never become their problems.

4. You avoid opening your own app

There are lots of reasons to dread opening an app. These can range from the color scheme being off to the UX not being intuitive — having to refer to help pages to do routine tasks, for example, or perhaps things glitch with frequency. This can’t happen with your digital services.

5. You’re not having fun

Not everyone loves tech like I do, but you should have a sense that yours is what I term “automagical.” That means you put in the work and reap the rewards—that tech supports you and that you feel empowered and not drained by it. The absence of such happy feelings means there’s a vital issue to be addressed.

Take note, though: Even if you’re experiencing any or all of the above, don’t simply run to invest in new software. Because the reality is that the right tech may not be built for you yet or that you’re not built for it. As any entrepreneur knows, it’s critical to know a target audience, and the same applies to technology: it isn’t designed for absolutely everyone, even if it has the most and best reviews.

Some factors to consider while contemplating your needs:

Establish goals: The first step is clarifying your business goals and intentions, which hold a lot of power when implementing supportive software and other solutions. From monthly costs to ease of use, understanding what your unique needs are is crucial before investing in tools that can truly help (and never hinder) operations.

If you want to grow and scale, you need software that can support changes in data size/complexity — can adapt to more clients in different ways. And if your budget can’t afford solutions that scale in this way, then consider tech goals that may be more in tune with understanding transition points, and how to move to new systems in response to them.

Inventory: Once you’ve got goal clarity, go through each app you’re using and write down how it is helping to achieve them. And don’t forget to include what you hate about them, along with the subscription cost and how much effort they require. This process paints a picture of individual tool value and the current state of your tech stack. It also helps to highlight any gaps and opportunities.

Alignment: Your digital tools should “spark joy,” as professional organizer and consultant Marie Kondo would say. This doesn’t mean that they need to be 100% perfect, but fundamentally, they should make your life easier, not harder. Consider whether they can be juggled, optimized or downsized, or whether it’s time to trade in for something new.

There’s nothing cheesy about getting a sponsorship!

Italian Olympic gymnast Giorgia Villa is going viral after photos resurfaced of her holding wheels and wedges of parmesan cheese. The 21-year-old was sponsored by Parmigiano-Reggiano from 2021 to 2022.

Photos show Villa performing gymnastic moves over the wheel, such as handstands and skills on the balance beam.

“Since I was a child I’ve always loved this amazing product, a symbol of excellence and Italian culture, and since today being able to collaborate with them makes me extremely proud and excited to face future challenges,” she wrote in a translated caption on Instagram.

Though the partnership has ended, Parmigiano-Reggiano said in a statement to People that the partnership makes sense because many athletes find the cheese to be a “totally natural energy boost” and, of course, a tasty snack.

“The Parmigiano Reggiano Consortium is always thrilled when the Italian team members, especially when so young, achieve such extraordinary results, and has always been sensitive to the world of sports,” the company told the outlet.

Naturally, the internet can’t get enough of the campaign.

Villa isn’t the only athlete that the cheese brand has worked with.

Parmigiano-Reggiano has also had sponsorship deals with NBA player Nico Mannion, tennis player Jannik Sinner, and Paralympic swimmer Giulia Ghiretti, according to the marketing agency Impresa e Sport.

Villa helped clinch the Silver medal for Italy in the team finals this week, helping bring it home with a score of a 13.766 on the uneven bars. It’s the team’s first medal at the Olympic Games in 96 years.

Pour through higher-ed or seminar business texts relating to the qualities of an effective leader, and phrases like “analytical prowess,” “restless inventiveness” and “strength of will” tend to creep center stage. In my experience, however, placing too much emphasis on these (to be sure, often admirable) qualities is in error. I’ve found that empathy, compassion and care make a much more significant impact on a company’s success — that practicing such “soft skills” when running my own businesses has allowed me to reach the level of success I occupy today.

Such skills are broadly defined as ways of relating and collaborating with others, and effective communication and complex task completion relies on their deft application, so practicing them routinely in the workplace is invaluable. According to a study by LinkedIn, “92% of talent professionals say they matter as much or more than hard skills when they hire, and 80% say they’re increasingly important to company success.”

I couldn’t agree more.

Not everyone is cut out to be a leader, but an acute understanding of communication, problem-solving and open-mindedness increases any professional’s value. And these capabilities go beyond the workplace, affecting every aspect of life.

1. Empathy

This term is defined as the ability to practice awareness of other people’s emotions and attempt to understand their experiences and perspectives. It requires a certain level of maturity but makes a profound difference in a staff’s willingness to engage — fosters a sense of purpose and trust.

Over the course of my travels around the world, I have both seen and experienced suffering and choosing not to overlook circumstances different from my own —attempting to put myself in someone else’s shoes — has taught me a deep sense of humility. It has also inspired me to start many of the businesses I own today, which would not exist without the ability to see beyond my own limits.

To embrace empathy, listening is vital, as is not prioritizing your own tasks more than employees’ work. So, commit to making those around you feel heard. (Therapy and business coaching can be great assists in that effort.) Empathy is a skill that must be practiced!

2. Compassion

The desire to take action to help others, compassion differs from empathy in that it’s not just an awareness of others’ perspectives, but an inclination to be of service to them. It is the application of empathy.

One way I practice it is by allowing employees to bring pets and kids into the workplace — to empathize with situations out of their control (like a babysitter canceling at the last minute). By opening up the workspace to what some might consider the “untraditional,” the goal is to assist to the best of my ability.

Practicing compassion builds a more inclusive company culture, one that promotes a stronger work ethic by celebrating diversity, and reflecting on your own experiences of hardship and adversity is key. Take the time to evaluate how other people’s compassion towards you made a positive impact, and assess how you can do the same for staff members.

3. Adaptability

Put simply, this is the ability to approach change with openness and understanding. When I consider the word, it’s often in the context of developing new health and wellness products, and I assume things won’t always go according to plan. I have to try many different takes/recipes to get the right balance, which is also true in many other facets of business, such as hiring and workflow. By entering a venture with a deliberate focus on sensitivity to change and willingness to pivot, achievement becomes markedly more likely.

Effective adaptation requires patience and calmness, and I’ve found that meditation is profoundly helpful in fostering a positive mindset, but just as important is your perspective on work. Remember that no matter what, you have it good — you are fortunate and have skills to apply. If you truly believe and hold on to that notion, there’s no challenge that can’t be overcome.

4. Integrity

This is one of the most critical soft skills to practice when running a business. It’s an untampered dedication to acting on morals and values and requires honesty, fairness and a great deal of introspection. As CEO, you might be placed on a pedestal, so the importance of uncompromised integrity is huge: you must accept your mistakes and look failure in the eye without cheating your values. It’s been my experience that knowledge gained from failure far outweighs easy success at the expense of morals.

That said, I know the temptation involved when a person is cornered in a position that seems unforgiving, with a staff relying on the company’s success to make a living. That can be daunting. But there is always a choice—a chance to not compromise for monetary gain. At the end of the day, you can forgive yourself for a failure but never for intentional wrongdoing. You’ll need a strong sense of purpose because your ethics will be frequently tested.

Don’t assume soft skills will come easily; they get cultivated over time. Anyone can get a degree, but not everyone can effectively practice empathy, compassion, adaptability and integrity, but they are indispensable to running a business and living a happy and healthy life.

Before you say “yes” to that dream job, you better read the fine print.

Noncompetes, which stop employees from starting their own businesses in the same industry and working for a competitor for a set period after the employment ends, can be devastating, says wedding dress designer Hayley Paige Gutman.

Gutman shared her testimony with a Senate economic policy subcommittee on Monday, three-and-a-half years after the start of a noncompete legal battle with her former employer, JLM Couture, and three months after the U.S. Federal Trade Commission announced a new rule banning noncompetes.

Gutman was not allowed to work in wedding dress design for five years after leaving her employer because of the noncompete.

“I could start over with a new name, I could open new social media accounts and rebuild, but I could not work in my chosen craft,” Gutman said.

The FTC estimates that around one in five Americans, or about 30 million people, are under noncompetes. According to the agency, banning the agreements would add 8,500 new businesses a year and increase wages for the average employee by $524 per year.

The noncompete ban was set to take effect starting September 4, but legal challenges could delay, or even cancel, its implementation.

Opponents of the ban, however, say businesses could benefit from noncompetes because employees can’t use what they learned to start rival companies. The agreements also help protect trade secrets and retain employees for longer periods.

In her testimony, Gutman detailed how she signed an employment contract with a noncompete clause in 2011, at the age of 25, with JLM Couture. Nine years later, JLM alleged that Gutman had violated the noncompete by using the @misshayleypage social media accounts, which had more than a million followers, to promote other companies without JLM’s permission.

JLM also claimed that the company was the reason for Gutman’s social media fame, and appearances on TLC’s “Say Yes to the Dress” and “Say Yes To America” reality TV shows only happened because Kleinfeld Bridal, where “Say Yes to the Dress” is filmed, is one of JLM’s biggest clients.

“I spent every dollar I ever earned designing wedding dresses to fight for my right to do so once again,” Gutman said in her testimony, adding later, “I want to demonstrate how noncompetes operate shamelessly on a one-way highway: if we are not limiting competition among corporations, why are we limiting it among individuals?”

Gutman and JLM ultimately reached a settlement agreement in May that gave her the rights to the “Hayley Paige” name and social media accounts. Gutman agreed to pay JLM $263,000.

Now a small business owner, Gutman reflected on her long legal battle in a June interview with the Independent Business Podcast.

“The thing you work on works on you,” Gutman said, in response to a question about advice she would give fellow small business owners. “The obstacle is the way.”

The Sharks are circling.

“Shark Tank” co-stars and friends Mark Cuban and Kevin O’Leary are duking it out on social media after O’Leary appeared on Fox News.

In the clip, O’Leary slammed Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris and alleged that a Democratic donor friend told him they were having “buyer’s remorse” over Harris. The Canadian entrepreneur then compared the situation to Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

“You should take this interview out behind the barn,” Cuban cheekily wrote to O’Leary in a post on X.

“They just thought he was the ‘it’ guy. Look at the country now it’s, it’s wiped out it because it turns out the guy had no executional skills,” O’Leary said. “It would be important to leave aside the politics and ask what has Kamala Harris actually done, actually achieved?”

Cuban, meanwhile, is one of hundreds of Silicon Valley investors supporting Harris’s campaign for President. The billionaire and Cost Plus Drugs entrepreneur has also been sharing Harris memes on Threads and is reportedly advising the campaign on crypto.

“I’m getting multiple questions from her camp about crypto,” Cuban previously said. “The feedback I’m getting, but certainly not confirmed by the VP, is that she will be far more open to business, [artificial intelligence], crypto, and government as a service.”

O’Leary did not appear to publicly respond as of press time.

“Shark fight!” a few users commented on the post.

The two longtime coworkers are currently filming Season 16 of ABC’s “Shark Tank,” set to air this fall. It’s also scheduled to be Cuban’s last.

Unlock the Key to a More Fulfilled Life in 3 Simple Steps

For more than twenty years, I’ve been fortunate enough to work with dozens of CEOs and high-net-worth individuals to help them meet business and personal/lifestyle goals — in part by creating legacy projects that deliver lasting impact.

One of the most important things I’ve learned through this work is that there are pronounced distinctions between happiness and fulfillment and that knowing the difference is critical for personal and business success.

Because while happiness is important, it’s often fleeting — whether felt in the wake of an important sale, solid third-quarter results or upon receiving a promotion. It makes you feel good, as it should, but in the long run, tends not to change anything significant in how we live our lives day to day. It’s like a boost of dopamine—tends to leave as quickly as it arrived.

Conversely, fulfillment is the result of extended dedication to a task, project, objective or dream. It is most often the result of a commitment to something greater than yourself, like family, a cause or community. Fulfillment is essentially, sustained and deep happiness.

Innately, we recognize that happiness is fleeting and that fulfillment should be our long-term objective. However, for most of us, the goal continues to be the former. As a result of having the wrong focus, untold millions wind up stressed, unhealthy and suffering from debilitating mental illnesses like depression and addiction.

So how do we break the cycle of chasing short-term satisfaction as opposed to long-term fulfillment?

Step 1. Work on yourself

It may sound simplistic, but the basic truth is that fulfillment is impossible if you don’t first take care of your body and mind. Focusing on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing is the foundation for any other achievement.

A good place to start is with diet and exercise. This doesn’t mean you have to live like an athlete training for the Olympics: small adjustments can go a long way toward creating big changes, both physically and psychologically.

When it comes to diet, I love a simple phrase in Michael Pollen’s book, The Omnivore’s Dilemma, “Eat (real) food, not too much, mostly plants.” In other words, take it easy on heavily processed or fast food, as well as meat, and instead go for lots of vegetables and fruit. Just following that uncluttered guidance will work wonders.

In terms of exercise, every bit helps, and the mantra “Use it or lose it” is great to keep in mind. A 2013 study found that, without regular exercise, we lose 1% to 2% per year in lean body mass and 1.5% to 5% per year of overall strength after turning 40.

If you don’t exercise at the moment, start slowly. Even simple strolls have significant benefits. A 2023 Harvard report found that walking just 20 minutes a day, five days a week, yields significant health benefits, including cutting obesity incidence in half, reducing joint pain, lowering the risks of cancer and boosting immune health. Workers who were active in this basic way took 43% fewer sick days than those who were sedentary.

No matter how busy we are, everyone should be able to find 100 minutes a week to walk.

Step 2. Look outward

To me, a striking similarity among the myriad of theories, seminars and self-improvement coaching available today is that they tend to be focused on looking inward. But finding a purpose greater than ourselves is even more vital. Personal change is part of the process, certainly, but the ultimate goal — the true purpose in life —should be something greater. This kind of looking outward will also help with Step 1 because science tells us that interacting with and connecting to others is critical on many levels.

The Polyvagal Theory, developed by Dr. Stephen Porges, details in part that we have a fundamental human need to meaningfully connect with others. It emphasizes the importance of social connection in regulating nervous system responses and promoting emotional wellbeing.

Similarly, the U.S. Surgeon General stated in 2023 that loneliness — a phenomenon made much more widespread by both the pandemic and the isolation that comes from living in a digital world—poses health risks as deadly as smoking, its effects equivalent to smoking up to 15 cigarettes a day.

But what constitutes a wellness-producing connection? In practice, it can be as simple as going for a coffee with an elderly neighbor and extend to coaching a youth sports team, joining a book club or volunteering at a community center. These are simple, tangible actions that place you in the company of real people — much more spiritually fulfilling than social media or Zoom calls.

Step 3. Redefine what success means

A commonplace Western construct is that happiness comes from success. The hitch is that, in my opinion, our definition of success is flawed. We generally equate it with wealth, fame and power. Further, we are conditioned to think that more is better: more money, more possessions and more attention, but I have seen first-hand that some of the wealthiest and most “successful” people are among the least fulfilled. They’ve checked all the boxes of conventional notions of achievement but remain wanting.

A 2018 study found that a stunning 49% of CEOs report struggling with a mental health condition (compared to just under 23% of the U.S. adult population as a whole) and that the majority of them report feeling overworked and combat both fatigue and continual stress.

Chasing short-term happiness in the form of money, possessions and social media status creates a vicious cycle of never having enough, which leads to more stress and more unhappiness. Instead, look inward to better yourself physically and emotionally so that you have the capacity to look outward. You will then become a better leader, friend, coach and parent — and create a self-perpetuating cycle of betterment.
